Stanmore and Poplars surgeries are proud to offer patients over 75 the facilities and clinics surrounding age concern. We would also be pleased, if you have not already had one, to carry out an over 75 year old check up. Nurse-led Minor Illness Clinic

If your injuries or illness are more minor, you can use our nurse-led services.
Trained and experienced nurses are available in our team to treat a wide range of minor illnesses and injuries. Please call the surgery to make an appointment with the nurse.

COPD Clinic

We like to see all our patients who have been diagnosed with COPD at least yearly. Depending on the severity of your diagnosis we may invite you to come to the clinic more often in order to ensure we give you the care you require.

Diabetes Clinic

We have dedicated clinics for diabetes at the Health Centre and Poplars surgery, and we write to remind all our patients once a year that we need to see them.
We refer patients to the dietician, chiropodist and the community education programme (DESMOND) as necessary. Make an appointment

Minor Surgery Clinic

Certain small surgical operations can be performed at the surgery. With minor surgery the recovery time is usually short and you will be back to your usual activities fairly quickly (depending on your procedure). Before attending for minor surgery you will need to see a doctor for the diagnosis and then you will be given an appointment to attend for your procedure. Make an appointment

Non-NHS Services

Other services which are considered as a private matter and are not to do with the NHS, and therefore chargeable; are forms that the doctor needs to complete for insurance purposes, mortgage purposes or other cases of a similar nature.

There is a list of the private fees in both surgeries for your information. Do please ask about the fees as often people are taken aback when charged. Ask Reception a Question

Coronary Heart Disease

We offer an annual appointment to patients with established heart disease.
At the clinic we will review risk factors, discuss lifestyle changes, review medications and arm you with the knowledge you need to manage your condition. Make an appoinment
Prior to your appointment you will need to have a blood test. This will mean that your cholesterol and other blood tests will be available for discussion at the clinic. Book a blood test appointment online

Cervical Smear Tests

The practice nurses provide a cervical cancer screening service. You will be sent a letter when your smear is due and a leaflet explaining what will happen at the appointment. If you have symptoms that concern you, please make an appointment with the doctor. Make an appointment

NHS Home Eye Testing Service

If you are housebound the NHS offers free sight tests (aged 60 & over) and free spectacles (if eligible). The UK registered Optometrists check for Glaucoma, Diabetes, Cataract and other eye conditions. Appointments are available Monday to Saturday from 10am to 7pm.
