From Monday 17 May 2021, any GP patient requiring a blood test at Hertford County, Lister or New QEII Hospital, will need to book their own phlebotomy appointment online with our new bookable service with appointments available from Monday 24 May 2021.
This is to help maximise the number of appointments we can offer to patients, minimise queues and continue to maintain social distancing in waiting areas.
The easy to use appointment system will be accessible to patients via our trust website. East and North Hertfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group will also offer the direct links for the bookable system to embed in your own surgery website.
Please visit NHS: Changes to our walk-in blood test service where we explain in detail how patients can book their appointment. In addition you will find frequently asked questions which include what patients need to do if they are unable to book online.
The trust will be communicating this change in process to patients in a variety of different ways including a poster for you to display in your GP surgery (see attached).
GP surgeries that have allocated phlebotomy sessions will continue to have these provided, alongside the bookable service at the three hospital sites.
Patients that attend a hospital outpatient appointment will still be able to attend the phlebotomy department without an appointment to minimise the number of trips to the hospital.
